How the quiz works
The quiz evaluates eight aspects of your lifestyle — type of housing, time available for exercise, prior experience with dogs, whether young children live at home, tolerance for shedding and grooming, how much time the dog will spend alone, tolerance for barking, and the energy level you want day to day. Each answer adds points across different lifestyle traits.
At the end, we compare your answer profile with the typical profile of 15 candidate breeds, calculating which one has the closest match to your answers. The 3 breeds with the highest compatibility appear in the result, each with a short explanation of why it was recommended.
It's worth remembering that "breed" is only one of the factors that shape an individual dog's temperament — genetics, socialization, life history, and upbringing also carry enormous weight, especially for rescued dogs or those of unknown origin.
The result is a starting point, not a final decision
The breeds recommended here are an initial suggestion based on average, general traits — not a guarantee of compatibility. Within any breed there's enormous individual variation in temperament, energy, and health, and a dog that looks "ideal on paper" may not be the right dog in practice.
Before deciding, meet the animal in person: visit shelters and responsible rescue organizations, spend time with the dog, talk to whoever has been caring for it, and, if possible, bring the whole family along for the visit. Many mixed-breed and adult dogs available for adoption fit your routine just as well (or better) than any specific breed — and adopting gives them a second chance.
Avoid deciding on impulse just because one breed "won" the quiz. Research the health history of the breed or animal, consider the long-term cost of care, and whenever possible, choose responsible adoption over buying.

This quiz is an educational tool and does not replace a conversation with veterinarians, trainers, or shelter and rescue staff. The result indicates general compatibility trends, not an individualized recommendation for your specific situation.
